Casual Connect Slides On Navigating Change

I recently wrote a post titled, '3 Tips For Managing Change.'  As a follow-up, I delivered a speech based on these tenets this last week at Casual Connect that went into a lot of examples of companies that successfully managed themselves thru change.  I used examples from Pandora, Rovio, Groupon, Facebook, and of course GameHouse.  The slides are attached here: Download No-fear_2011-07-18.

Really this speech is a follow-on to the speech that I delivered at Casual Connect last year that covered how the traditional casual games industry missed a big oppurtunity (in social and mobile) while new entrants took advantage of these new platforms for growth.  This year I walked out on stage wearing an astronaut helmut.  You'll get why if you look at the slides.  MattHulett (3)

Its staggering to think about the new platforms available to all of us in the casual games space.  The growth rates for social and mobile are huge.  I doubt that any would have predicted that Apple could pull off $100 billion in sales with $70 billion of that revenue being made up by iPhone and iPad sales.  Games on social and mobile platforms by far are larger as well as growing much more quickly than the traditional games market.

Its remarkable to think that a new platform likes tablets was basically made recently by Apple and now
analystics like Forrester Research are putting the growth of tablet computers outpacing the PC market. Estimate show iPad units growing from 10 million units last year to 24 million units this year, andgrowing to 44 million in annual units sold by 2015.

There has never been a better time to be in the casual games space!
